Product Description

Triclabendazole is one of the members of the benzimidazole family of anthelmintics. Also called  manufactured Egaten (human medicine in tablet form) and Fasinex ( veterinary drug in liquid form), triclabendazole unlike the benzimidazole drugs has a chlorinated benzene ring but no carbamate group. Benzimidazoles like triclabendazole can bind to beta-tubulin and avoid the microtubules polymerization of which they are part. Initially developed as an oral route drug, it has highly effective against both adult and immature liver flukes.

The commercial availability of Triclabendazole as a generic drug started in late 1990s. Following that many drugs were developed. In early 2000s, Agrovet Market Animal Health launched Trivantel 15, a 15% triclabendazole suspension. Agrovet Market Animal Health in the year 2009 came up with the first triclabendazole injectable solution (combined with ivermectin). To treat infections caused by roundworms, ectoparasites and  immature & adult liver flukes (Fasciola hepatica), Fasiject Plus was launched, a solution containing a triclabendazole 36% and ivermectin 0.6%.
