Ortho-Chlorotoluene (OCT) is a white colored powder which is an anhydrous acetic acid that can be synthesized by reacting phthalimide with t-butyl hypochlorite, water and t-butyl alcohol. Its boiling point is 315 degree celsius and a melting point nearly equal to 188 degree celsius. Its aqueous solution gives the vapor at a temperature of 417.15 Kelvin. Our Ortho-Chlorotoluene (OCT) can be used for the synthesis of compounds like α-amino acetal, vicinal diamine and 3-methylthio oxindoles. It is a corrosive chemical which may cause skin irritation and leads to serious eye damage due to exposure.
